ARYA STARK – Throws a solo ball and gets a 6 player ricochet hit against the best team in the country. Doesn’t trial for Aus Squad, continues to play rec league.

BRAN STARK – Does nothing all season and wins MVP just cause he rolled his ankle in the final and had a good “story”.

BRIENNE OF TARTH – Beats all the blokes. All the guys want to date her but are emasculated by her dodge intelligence and ability.

BRONN – Super talented player, always gets promised onto an elite squad but ends up getting allocated to mentor a team of noobs and has to hard carry every match.

DAENERYS TARGARYEN – Starts the match saying “let’s just have fun guys, be respectful of our opposition” and ends the match annihilating a newbie team 20 zip with zero chill, screaming at (and subsequently dropping) any teammates who refuse to listen to her calls.

DAVOS SEAWORTH – Doesn’t play often but always shows up the to social events with a beer in hand. Collects dodge jerseys.

EURON GREYJOY – Talks a big game, makes a few bomb catches, ends up getting hit out by an elite player throwing left handed.

JAMIE LANNISTER – Plays left handed because his right rotator cuff is fucked. Says he wants to leave his team every year, always comes crawling back.

JON SNOW – Good enough to make Aus Squad but refuses to trial because he “doesn’t want it”. Always walks off finger blocks cause he’s a man of honour.

JORAH MORMONT – Older than everyone at league but schools everyone without breaking a sweat.

LITTLE FINGER – Elite strategist and shot caller, can’t throw a ball to save his life. Literally. He gets cause out every time.

MISSANDEI – Trains with the squad all year with flying colours only to get cut at the end of season.

NIGHT KING – Elite player who recruits everyone to his team, catches every ball that hits him to constantly revive his dead teammates.

SAMWELL TARLY – Super unfit but doesn’t get subbed cause he’s best mates with the captain. Does stats for his team. Once made a point blank catch against a 120km/h ball but the ref didn’t see it.

SANSA STARK – Had a bad run of playing on inexperienced teams, finally captaining her own squad.

THE HOUND – Only joined your team so he can beat his old team because he’s salty AF. Always suggests KFC for team dinner.

THE MOUNTAIN – Riddled with injury, plays like a beast on court and doesn’t change facial expression after he cops a huge headshot.

THE WHITE WALKERS – Has zero structure or dodgeball intelligence. Throws the last ball, gets out early and waits for their gun catcher to revive them.

TYRION LANNISTER – Has great ideas but can’t physically execute them on court. Says “sorry guys” a lot. Always pays his team rego on time.

VARYS – Finds out all the dodge gossip before anyone else. Knows who’s on elite teams before teams are announced. Finds out the oppositions secret strat.

MELISANDRE – Has a huge amount of ability and talent. Busts it out once in a blue moon. Always overheating.

CERSEI LANNISTER – Subs on the sidelines drinking gatorade while her team dominates week after week. Always plays on a team with a family member.

Who are you?

Player Feature | Derik Phan

As our dodgeball club grows and as this amazing sport increases in popularity it is important to reflect on the growth and development of our players we have met over the years.

Derik Phan first started playing at our dodgeball club at 13 years of age and is one of our youngest dodgeballers. This kid has been playing with us for over 3 years and has earnt the nickname “Young Blood” around the courts as he regularly holds his own against our older more experienced players.

2019 sees two BIG debuts for Derik where he will be competing at state and international level. He has been recruited to play in the NSW Dodgeball League representing Sydney Storm where he will be competing against the top dodgeball teams in NSW. In addition to state league, in April this year Derik will also make his debut representing Zany Sports Dodgeball Club at the 2019 Asia Pacific Invitational in Auckland. This tournament attracts the most elite players from across the globe and will feature teams from USA, Malaysia, Singapore, NZ and more!

We are excited to see what the future holds for Derik and are proud to foster his development in this sport.

Men’s & Women’s Tournament 2019

MENS & WOMENS DODGEBALL TOURNEY

Our 2nd Annual Men’s and Women’s tournament is back in 2019!

This tournament is a super fun and inclusive way for veteran and beginner players to compete together on the same team in a social day of dodge! All fitness and experience levels welcome.

How it works:

1. Register individually for the gender category you wish to play in and answer a few questions about your dodgeball experience to help us allocate you.

2. We will create teams from the registrations and spread out experienced and beginner players so all teams are as evenly matched as possible.

COST:

•$30 per person if paid prior to event day

•$40 per person if paying on the day

Upon registration players will be emailed an invoice with payment instructions. Bank deposit is recommended to avoid credit card surcharges.

*A portion of the funds raised from this tournament will go towards supporting our representative players competing at the Asia Pacific Invitational in NZ this April!

NSW grown talent to represent Australia in LA for 2018 Dodgeball World Championships

From October 10 – 13, our Sydney based counterparts of Team Australia team are heading to Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA to battle it out against 14 nations in the WDBF Dodgeball World Championships. We would like to congratulate the following players on making the squad and wish them all the best in their competition.

With over 5000 athletes across 16 leagues from around the country, the popularity of dodgeball as a sport has increased exponentially. Through the dedication and talent of its athletes Dodgeball is now becoming a sport that is recognised by our nation as a fierce, fast and exciting spectacle to both see and participate in.

The Australian women’s team is looking to better their silver medal from last years Championships in Toronto, Canada with the Men vying to improve their current bronze medal standing.

Top 10 Reasons To Join A Dodgeball League

Yes yes, we’ve all seen the movie, but that was sooooo 2004. Welcome to 2016, where smartphones have revolutionised the world and wait, what’s that? Dodgeball is actually a competitive sport with its own elite leagues all over the world with Olympic potential?! Hells to the yeah.

Dodgeball has recently become a rapidly growing sport in Australia. With the WDBF Dodgeball World Championships coming up this October, we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to “hit you with some knowledge” about a sport we are all so passionate about here at Zany Sports. Check it.

Zany Sports Brings Dodgeball to Seven Hills!

Zany Sports Dodgeball is growing! We have partnered up with Hills Indoor Sports to bring our popular sport of dodgeball to Seven Hills.

We will be running a free trial day a week before our season starts to encourage all new players to give it a go and learn the rules. Dodgeball is played 6 a side with minimum 1 girl on court. Our matches run for 40 minutes and our season will run for 10 weeks every Sunday afternoon.

Optional Training Night

For those wanting a bit of extra coaching and dodgeball practice, we will be holding an optional training night on TUESDAY 2ND FEB FROM 8.30PM-9.30PM.

We will be going over some team strategy, court control, throwing, blocking and dodging techniques for those who want to improve their game. Price will be $10 per player.

We will also be holding trials in the next few weeks to submit teams into the Anzac Weekend Trans Tasman Invitational. This will be Zany’s first international tournament and would be great to take a team or two over to NZ to compete. Please speak to Rob or myself for more info or keep an eye out for an email in the coming weeks with trial dates.

Maitland Dodgeball is here!

Zany Sports has just secured another exciting venue to run our next dodgeball league! Maitland Indoor Sports Centre is the next venue to host Zany Sports latest dodgeball competition.

The competition commences on SUNDAY THE 9TH OF AUGUST! The league will run for a total of 8 weeks to test the communitys interest. If successful we will be looking into holding regular dodgeball leagues at this venue!

Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge your way into this fun and exciting alternative sport.

Zany Sports launches it’s first Dodgeball League in Liverpool!

Dodgeball has arrived to Zany Sports!

Our 4 week mini season has kicked off without a hitch and with great interest. The teams currently competing are all evenly matched with the ladder standings very close to each other. We are hoping it will make for a great finals series if all teams play on to our upcoming 12 week dodgeball season commencing on the 9th of July.
